Charity concert takes to Junction stage

September 29, 2021

Six local performers will take to the stage at Junction for a charity concert in aid of Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) and The Fiona Wade Appeal.

The singers and musicians are set to wow audiences on Saturday, October 9 in the third annual Band Appeal concert organised by local singer and guitarist, Ray Clark.

Ray said: “Over the years I have done a variety of charity shows and I wanted to pick one charity to work with.

“A few years ago a relative of mine had esophogus cancer and I didn’t know much about it at all. After also meeting Emmerdale actress, Fiona Wade who lost her Father to the disease I decided to begin raising money for OPA as well as Fiona’s appeal and the Band Appeal annual concert was born.”

This years concert will feature performances from contemporary duo, The Alcatraz Swim Team, female vocalists Becky Brown and Jessica Sharp, international male vocalist Daniel Defoe and impersonator Chris Field.

The event will also see the long awaited return of Ray’s band Stagefright, who haven’t performed together in over 12 years.

Ray explained: “Myself and my two friends from Swinefleet used to be in a band called Stagefright and we performed locally for a number of years.

“After one of the members moved away we haven’t performed together in over 12 years but we are making a come back for Band Appeal.”

There will also be a raffle on the evening and all money raised from the event will go towards the two charities.
